Brazil - Updated Renders

A couple of previous models re-rendered using Brazil r/s

Not Sure....

...what this is supposed to be, but I was on a roll. Some form of public art thing I suppose. Created with Grasshopper and rendered relatively quickly in Brazil.

Pedestrian Bridge Manipulation

A short video demonstrating manipulation of the pedestrian bridge geometry using the grasshopper plug-in.

Geodesic Dome

This model is based on the development of a geodesic dome. I'm in the process of writing a complete tutorial for the definition in Wink.

The pdf tutorial (part 1) can be found here

A video tutorial (part 2) can be found on vimeo

Enneper Surface

This study develops an Enneper Surface, and was inspired by an illustration and discussion in an on-line book called ‘Algorithmic Modelling with Grasshopper’ by Mohamad Khabazi

Pedestrian Bridge

This model is a study inspired by the Millennium Bridge in London. The entire geometry is developed and controlled parametrically from within the Grasshopper definition.

For the rendering only some simple materials and a base plane were added.

The Rhino and Grasshopper files are illustrated in the screenshot below.

Grasshopper

Grasshopper is a plug-in for Rhinoceros, which allows parametric development of models. This in turn allows for development of some fascinating geometry, and more importantly the ability to evolve the geometry in real time.

Some great learning resources are available here.

Some really inspiring architectural work is on display here at lift.

This is a quick rendering of a twisted tower I built based on a web tutorial...

A new kitchen(?)

The Brazil renderer uses this camera-thingy as a test shape in their promotional material. My version is built in Rhino (just to try it...) and rendered in Flamingo.

An early concept rendering of the Stawamish Chief pedestrian bridge, later fully realized by Schaun Valdivinos and the HMM-Kiewit team on the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project.

Rhinoceros

Rhinoceros is a commercial 3D Nurbs modeling software I've been tinkering with for a few years now. The next few posts present some of the models and definition files I've developed in both Rhino, and its clever new Plug-in "Grasshopper".
